Professional Profile

I’m currently a mobile software developer with TheJournal.ie. I would describe myself as highly motivated, ambitious and hardworking. I tend to take leadership in projects and also collaborate well in team situations, voicing my opinions or suggestions when necessary. I have a curious nature and often find myself questioning how a particular system or machine functions, and also how it could possibly be improved upon. Innovation and creativity are my main motivators and I have a constant desire to learn new, better or more efficient methods of performing a task.

Experience

AEROSPACE SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENTS – Clonskeagh, Dublin

Junior Software Developer

Experience:

  • Android Development
  • J2EE / JDBC
  • JSF / JSP / Servlets / JBoss Seam
  • SOAP / XML
  • Relational Databases and SQL
  • RFID Technoogies
  • Minor C# Experiance
  • EPCL Command Programming

Android
An in-house project I working on during my internship required an update to a
server polling application. Another intern and I reviewed code previously written
for the polling application (by interns the previous year). We decided upon a
rewrite & refactor of the application as it was poorly implemented, difficult to
manage and adding new features would require “hacking”. After the rewrite we
added extra features (SMS notifications), improved interface and fine-grained
filtering of events. The system is deployed in-situ in the company and after
review & testing from the lead developer has deployed the application to a
client based in Ireland.

JavaEE
During my internship, I was required to convert a Windows CE bespoke software
application to a functional Android application. This required a complete
redesign of the system from bottom up and posed numerous challenges. During
my internship I presented the Android application to a representative from Delta
Airlines displaying functionality and since it has been deployed for beta testing

C#
I developed an interface application for a RFID card printer using C#. The
application acquired user data, encoded it in a specified format (EPC Tag
standards) and generated EPCL commands to interact with the hardware device.
EPC RFID data was successfully encoded along with graphical data on the card
and tested before being released from the hardware device. This application
was successfully deployed to a client located in Ireland and phone/email support
was provided to aid with software & hardware issues.

CLICK.IE – Cavan

Retail Sales / I.T. Technician

While working for Click.ie my duties were as follows; Customer Sales, Customer Service, Stock Ordering, Stock Check, Store Layout, Till Sales & Cash-Up, Store / Client / Supplier Correspondence, Opening / Closing / Securing premises.

I dealt with customers daily and offered guidance and support to further their technical knowledge. I also handled software / hardware based repairs on all machines. This experience has allowed me to gain knowledge of regular problems & queries customers are faced with when buying new products. As a result I know which areas to focus on when advising customers on a new product or service to ensure they are satisfied before they leave the shop.

I dealt with Laptop / PC / Printer repairs as required. My duties involved assessing the fault with a particular machine, providing a repair estimate to the customer and completing the repair in a timely manner. Working alongside a qualified technician has provided me with invaluable ‘hands on’ experience that complements theory covered in my current computing course.
